Home security FAQs

I would like to get a security camera for my front gate. Will a wired or wireless camera be easier for that location?

A security camera at a front gate is a great idea, and you could use a wired or a wireless camera in that spot. To find the one that will work better for you consider a few things. First, where are you going to be feeding the video to? How far away is it from the camera? It may be a pain to run wires, and wireless may be an easier option.

I just bought a new home and there are locks on all of the windows. Do I need to replace them?

That depends on a few factors. If your window locks have never been replaced, you may want to consider updating them to a more secure lock. Keep in mind that window locks were created to keep the weather and the elements out and warm air in. They were not created to keep intruders from entering your home.

I would like to get a fire alarm for my home. What is my best bet?

A fire alarm is a much needed feature in any home. Your best bet for an alarm is a smoke detector, or a series of smoke detectors. The amount you need depends on the size of your home. If you would like to go beyond a smoke detector for fire protection, consider an alarm system that includes fire, flood, and theft alerts.
